Before and after the lesson, kindergarten teachers were assessed on their awareness of pedagogical content and the extent of their knowledge. Using the KJ method, we analyzed the sentences written by the teachers and found that many teachers had negative preconceptions about early childhood mathematical activities. For example, before taking the lesson, they were more likely to think that children are not aware of mathematical concepts and that it is too early in children’s development for them to gain this consciousness through mathematical activities. However, after taking the lesson, they realized that many mathematical activities are a part of children’s life and play.
