To achieve this, we focused on the \"view of the classics as a 'concept of entry'\" and designed and implemented a class where students engage with the classics through the eyes of the authors. We included thirty-five fifth-grade elementary school students in the study, who read “Makura no Soushi/The Pillow Book.” In our analysis, we utilized the learners’ descriptors to concretely depict their learning experiences. Consequently, we observed the following insights: (1) The students are able to immerse themselves in the world as perceived by the author, meet their devices, struggles, and perspectives, as they engage with classic literature through the author’s eyes. (2) Students reflect on their own words and their usage, transcending mere analytical reading.
