| 内容記述 | 本報告は、2024年および2025年に実施された、マレーシアイスラム科学大学（USIM）での10日間の短期英語研修プログラムの概要と成果をまとめたものである。研修は英語によるコミュニケーション能力の向上と文化交流を目的とし、英語レッスンに加え、交流アクティビティ、日本文化の紹介、異文化体験の４つの柱で構成され、USIMの学生「バディ」が学習・生活面で全面的に支援した。英語レッスンでは即興的な発話練習が重視され、SNSを活用した課題も実施された。交流活動では、伝統的な遊びや現地学生とのインタビューを通じて英語での実践的な会話が促された。研修を通じて、学生は英語を「試験科目」ではなく「コミュニケーションの道具」として捉える視点を得た。また、異文化理解や柔軟な対応力、主体的な発話姿勢の重要性を体感した。一方で、英語によるディスカッションへの苦手意識や、マレーシアに関する知識不足、帰国後の英語使用機会の少なさといった課題も明らかとなった。今後は事前学習や継続的な英語使用の場の提供が求められる。本研修は、英語力の向上と国際的視野の拡大に大きく貢献し、参加者にとって貴重な異文化交流の機会となった。 | |||||||||||||||||

| 内容記述 | This report summarizes the outcomes of a 10-day short-term English training program held at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) in 2024 and 2025. The program's primary goal was to improve participants' English communication skills and foster cross-cultural understanding. It was structured around four main elements: English lessons, interactive activities, presentations on Japanese culture, and immersive cross-cultural experiences, with invaluable support from USIM student "buddies." The English curriculum focused on spontaneous speaking and practical application through social media tasks and conversational activities like traditional games and interviews. As a result, participants' view of English shifted from an academic subject to a practical tool for communication. The program also raised their awareness of the importance of cultural understanding, adaptability, and proactive communication. Challenges noted in the report included initial hesitation to speak English and a lack of prior knowledge about Malaysia. To improve future programs, it is recommended to introduce pre-departure learning of Malaysian history and society and provide more opportunities for ongoing English practice after the program ends. Overall, the initiative was successful in boosting students’ English communication skills and expanding their global perspectives, providing a valuable intercultural experience. |
