| 内容記述 | This thesis examines Choushin Kabira (1908-1998), a man who worked for the Okinawa Civilian Administration’s cultural division upon his return to Okinawa from Taiwan at the end of the war, expending great efforts for the cultural restoration of Okinawa. While in Taiwan, Kabira worked for the intelligence division in the office of the Governor-General, and was involved in the imperialization of Taiwan through his work with the mass media. He also had a profound knowledge of Okinawan folklore and history, and the articles he wrote and programs he broadcast were highly influential on the public. Kabira’s activities transcending the Second World War were extremely varied, but this thesis focuses on his work on culture and the arts during his time in Taiwan, in particular his involvement with film as a new, cutting-edge medium for pop culture. By uncovering one aspect of his cultural and artistic activities in Taiwan, we hope to explore the meaning and conceptual background for the cultural practice Kabira conveyed to Okinawa after the war. | |||||
